Boxing in a riser

A water or waste riser boxed in, with an access hatch in line with the joints and valves.

Consumer unit

A casing for a consumer unit or enclosure that respects ventilation and access to the protective devices.

Meter

A cupboard or panel in front of the meter, which stays readable and accessible for readings.

Radiator cover

A slatted radiator cover that lets the heat circulate rather than trapping it.

Conduits and cables

Trunking and boxing for exposed runs of cable and pipe.

Finishing

Casings painted or finished like the walls, so they blend into the room.

A casing comes apart.

Boxing nailed shut in front of a valve means a wall to break open on the day of a leak. I know both sides of the problem: what is being hidden, and what will one day need to be opened.
