In a Parisian apartment the walls are never straight and the ceiling heights change from room to room. A bespoke wardrobe recovers the centimetres a standard piece leaves to waste.

Measuring walls out of true, skirting boards, and the sockets and switches to work around, followed by a drawing agreed with you.
Hanging space, shelves, drawers, shoe storage: the interior is planned for what you actually keep.
Hinged or sliding doors, depending on the space in front of the wardrobe.
Carcasses that rise to the ceiling, with gaps scribed to the real walls.
Interior lighting neatly wired in, since I also do the electrics.
Fitting, adjusting doors and drawers, finishing. I leave when everything closes properly.

A mass-produced unit stops at a round figure and leaves gaps around it. A wardrobe made for the room runs wall to wall and floor to ceiling: often a third more storage.
The Left Bank and the 16th for everyday work, neighbourhood by neighbourhood. Measuring and fitting take two visits, not ten.
